I came to Iowa City as a young child when my late father, Frank Conroy, became Director of the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. My mother, Maggie Conroy, received her MFA in playwriting from the University of Iowa. I grew up on Bowery Street and Magowan Avenue, while attending the local schools. After college in Massachusetts, I chose to return and make Iowa City my home. I have put down roots in the community with my wife Anna Bria, and built a career in local real estate.
I love supporting our community and place a big emphasis on giving back. Currently I serve on the University of Iowa Museum of Art Members’ Council, the campaign cabinet for United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties, and I belong to the Iowa City Downtown Rotary chapter. I look forward to continuing my service with these, and other organizations.
It is truly an honor to be running for Iowa City Council. I look forward to meeting with more people in the community, and listening to ideas on how we can make Iowa City an even better place.
