Tim Conroy, a Realtor at Blank and McCune, with deep roots in the Iowa City community, announced his candidacy Monday for an At-Large seat on the Iowa City Council.
“We must reach for our potential even as we preserve the foundations that have made our community so exceptional,” said Conroy, 28.
As a child Conroy came to Iowa City when his late father, Frank Conroy, became Director of the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. After college Conroy returned to make Iowa City his home. He currently sits on the University of Iowa Museum of Art Members’ Council, is a campaign cabinet member for United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties, and belongs to the Iowa City Downtown Rotary chapter.
“Our local economy is flourishing and should continue to do so,” Conroy said. “This growth is accompanied by an increased demand for housing, office space, and public services. We must plan to meet these needs with proposals that address both current and long term goals. I have the forward-thinking convictions needed to sustain the vitality of our City.”
